Back again, with another challenge from 7 Dots! This one is all about "Crazy Layering." And I went nuts with strips of paper that I embossed and used die-cuts on, as well as adding layers and layers of art mediums including bead gel, molding paste, and gesso.

Once again, I used two sheets of the same paper to acheive my monochromatic look. I used "Night's Fever" from the Dreamer Collection here, using Tim Holtz die-cuts, and embossing folders to change the look of each strip. I then smeared gesso and bead gel across the tops of each altered piece, building texture and dimension!

I may not have used any Shimmerz paints on this layout, but I truly felt that the white-ness of the molding paste and gesso just looked incredible this time with the bead gel and white cheesecloth that I added.

7 Dots Cultural Extras "Let's Dance"

Every month, 7Dots DT Coordinator Extraordinaire, Finnabair, comes up with some incredible challenges offering inspiration to all kinds of crafters and scrappers. This challenge was to use lyrics, or dance as a starting point for your projects.

Here is my project for this! It is based off of a layout that I did years ago, when my Sarenna was only 4. Even then she liked to twirl and dance about...

"Girl Twirl Take 2"

I used 2 sheets of "Sweet Dreams" from the Dreamer Collection, adding strips that I painted with Shimmerz paints, applied art mediums and textures to, as well as lots of strips of masking tape, gesso, and various other bits and bobs.

Here is the first in this series, from 4 years ago - my style has evolved much since then, but it remains one of my older favorites for certain!!!

I will be back early next week with another project from 7 Dots, but until then, I must bid you farewell as I crank out the rest of my projects for CHA. :)

Playing With Prima (catch-up, Part 1)

With CHA around the corner, I thought that a few of my posts over the next week or two should share a couple of my latest Prima projects, you may have seen them up on their blog in the last couple weeks, but aaah... I have some close-ups to show you here :)

"Nature's Gift"

This was made using Prima's fantastic ledger paper, as well as a lot of neutral, fussy-cut elements from their Pixie Glen paper Collection. I also used quite a bit of Shimmerz paints to highlight and frame the photo and detail work.

I also created a jewelry tree, from a misfit, broken, plain old looking thing - and now this sits on my bathroom counter, holding all my pretties!

A little different, but too much fun. This started out as something altogether different, but it ran away with me! I love pouring through art mags that showcase art dolls and just thought I would give it a try.

Craving some COLOR!

It's blah outside. Grey, not sparkly with snow, nor green with life. Just blah. So I decided for my Shimmerz post today I would create a colorful canvas! Using Coloringz in Anchors Away, Mon Shari, Pink Stiletto, and No Yoking... I brightened layers of ribbon, cotton tape, lace, and hemp before adding more details.

Aaah, color. I feel MUCH better now.

A little catch up... 7 Dots

Aaaah, I have been slacking again. :( Forgive me friends, but as this baby's due date comes nearer and nearer, I am slowing down - not to mention suffering from a major case of placenta brain which causes me to forget well... dern near everything!

Here are a few of my latest projects for 7 Dots... aaah, how I love these papers!

This was created for one of our challenges last month, have you been playing along with us? If not... you should! The challenge this time around was to create for the New Year - a list, a resolution, a few words to yourself.... This was my creation, a "Note:2012"

{Prima} Do you have a secret keeper?

I do.

It keeps secrets, communications, between my daughters and I.

What is it's purpose you ask? It all started to keep the talking going as they enter their tween years. See... they write me a note, a letter, a sentence - whatever they want to tell me, and they can tell me anything. I wanted to make it more "pretty" though (yep, i am definitely a girl) so I created this little beauty (for Prima) to house and transport our conversations to one another... (I also made two extras, identical to this one... see below for why.)

Whenever the girls have something to say, they write it down, and I find this somewhere in one of my rooms. Usually on my pillow, or next to my computer. I then respond to them within a day, placing the secret keeper back on their pillow. It's just a fun way to have a "mail system" running through your house, especially when day to day life seems to run away and I might not have that one on one time with each of my children. (If only there were 6 more hours each day...)

This little wooden pencil case was 1.00 at a local craft store, and after some paints, molding paste, and lots of Prima embellishments - VOILA. Something to treasure for years... AND something that has a purpose, lol.

What else could you do with a box like this?
I also wrapped a very special someone's birthday gift in one nearly identical to this box... minus the trims and few other embellishments, adding instead a piece of vintage fabric to the inside to cushion a little somethin' I wanted to give to them.

He will CRASH... (eventually)

Aaaah, I am still working out how to exactly capture the moments of my rough and tumble, sweet faced, little charmer of a son. What I do know is that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to use grungy elements, and lots of paint because this boy seems to have been a game changer for me. He is a bundle of energy, a nonstop, rolling, moving, making a mess and loving it, kind of kid. And that is what I try to get across in the layouts that I create about him.

Using tons of Shimmerz paints for this layout (it is featured on the Shimmerz blog today), I had so much fun splashing away and making the chaotic mess, and in a boyish, charming way. :)

"HE"

This is my one year old son, Jax :) and seriously - when he gives me this look - I cave. It's the "I can't believe you would betray me" look and that sweet face kills me...

even if I only am guilty of pouring him milk, instead of juice, lol.

I made this for Prima using their new Printery Collection. The neutral colors are PERFECT for adding in whatever other colors you would like, creating custom color palettes for each of your projects!

Using molding paste, and a Prima mask, I created the background effect, and then added some more layers once I had glued the photo down. I wanted him to become part of the page!

I then coated a lot of the elements with Shimmerz products in Choc-o-lot, Truffle, and Olive Branch for the camo type look.

Make your Chipboard work! With Prima of course

I needed a keepsake box. I always need some sort of keepsake box.... don't you? I find things all over that I think to myself, "good heavens, Heidi - that is something that you want to remember." BUT, I don't want to become a hoarder, so of course, I need to create something beautiful to organize these little bits in.

I found an old chipboard box laying in my room, pretty sure it contained something at some point, who knows what - but I decided that I had a purpose for it. And Prima was going to make it pretty. :)

Here is the cover of the finished box.

I used lots of Le Romantique, a shabby chic treasure, some ornamental edgings, a mask, and of course some flowers from Prima. I then used lots of crackle paste, molding paste, and Shimmerz paints and Enamelz to further make the colors pop!

The Flea Market challenge

On the 7 Dots blog this week we have issued a challenge! Are you ready to play along with us?

"Today we want to take you for an inspirational trip again:

we are happy to start a new blog project named “Flea Market”! As you probably guess we’ll be working with the supplies which can be found on markets, in antique shops, in the attics, old drawers or family albums… as well as with our 7 Dots Studio collections which still amaze us with their versatility and are perfect materials for many creative experiments."

Old photos make me swoon. But THIS old photo makes me completely mushy inside. There is something about seeing family members from days gone by, and being able to tell a story with your project, and this layout is no exception. The baseball player is my Daddy, and that little princess with the wings? My Mama. Yes, they knew each other before they even knew what love was, or that they would have me. They lived next to each other all their lives before they actually “found” one another, and I love that. The other boys in the photos are uncles on both sides as well… )

The Dreamer collection from 7 Dots was PERFECTION for what I wanted to create, a whimsy filled, throw back to fun, with flea market finds like library index cards, buttons, an old plane ticket, etc.

The Future Belongs to... (a Prima Project)

I am in love with Prima's colors within the North Country Collection. They are vintage-y, Christmas, the kind that makes me want to curl up on a couch look at the snow outside and drink some hot chocolate. SOOO, it is for that reason that I wanted to make the product modern, edgy,

whimsical when I created with it this time.

Here is the layout that I created - my daughter Ahna - is pictured in all her majesty!

Oh, how she is something!

I used a lot of Shimmerz coloringz in My Bleeding Heart, I also used some Choc-o-lot, and Shimmeringz in Goldie Lox to add a bit more glam once the project was finished.

There was A LOT of cutting involved, and a couple prints of the picture made so that I could add more locks of hair over the embellishments that I created. The paper details offered in the North Country paper was PERFECT for cutting out and adding oomph to the layout.

Of course, then, I had to add some Shabby Chic Treasures from Prima, as well as some Say It In Crystals, and flowers. Yes, must add flowers! The alphas are mostly new from this last release, however, the larger font is from a couple releases back. :)

I also added molding paste and some glass bead gel to lend a snow queen-ish, feel to the page, as well as some watch parts, gears and such to add just a titch more fun.

What a blast this layout was to make!

My Mama's Crush... using 7 Dots!

Hi friends, I have a project to show you today, that I created for 7 Dots, using Finnabair's incredible Dreamer collection. I love how roughed up and beautiful the paper is to begin with, and that I can just layer on the texture and elements creating a distressed, but beautifully, masculine, feel like with this project.

This hunk is my Daddy. :) Yep, he is still as handsome as he was in this picture, and the most amazing father. But before me, he was my Mama's crush. Can you see why she fell in love with the man? :)

I layered on strips of the Dreamer collection, added lots of molding paste and then saturated with color. I then added more strip of paper, rub-ons, and then some more vibrant color using Shimmerz paints.

I then roughed up the edges of my glued down layers, added some brads, and what-not, and then... you guessed it, added some more Shimmerz paints to finish this page off. :)

I used a combination of Shimmerz colors to come up with this palette, Coloringz in Mon Shari and Pink Stiletto were mixed a bit for the splatters, and Shimmerz in Bubble Gum created the drip effects.

Inspired by The Color Room's palette release this week, #81:

I used Shimmerz Spritz in Tropical Tanline and Olive Branch to create the right color green hue, and then I used Pearlz in Espresson to add my signature drips and splashes. Using the sketch provided by The Color Room, I was inspired to layer strips of paper and Tim Holtz tape, and of course, the splashes of paint.

I caught a glimpse of a fairy...

You may have seen on the Prima blog yesterday, a few of these photos of my girl. She wanted to be the most "beautiful of all fairies" this year for Halloween, and I decided to, of course, go crazy on her costume. :) Here are a few more photos...

But before I knew it, she ran off... so I will have to show you some more pics later... ;) Who knows? Maybe I will even find a cheetah, and a Mickey Mouse somewhere to photograph too..

AND NOW, that school is back in session... I have at least an hour or two in which I can devote to getting creative again (while the littlest snoozes) and so hopefully this blog will get back on track again!

This year my oldest "little" is a 5th grader, a ten year old who is one step away from becoming a middle schooler. **GASP** how is it possible? I don't feel old enough... and forget about being pulled in all directions from being pregnant... (oh, yah - have I mentioned that I am 4 months pregnant here on the blog yet, lol? Well... I will get to that a bit later this week or next... :) sheds a whole new light on why I haven't been blogging much, eh?) But wait a minute, where was I? Oh, yes, being pulled in all different directions - from being pregnant, to changing diapers, and buying training bras (shhh... that is private :p) LIFE is taking me on a crazy journey these days, what a balancing act!

But back to my oldest, Ahna. She blows me away. She is witty, beautiful, insightful, and flat out hysterical. While we are firmly setting foot into the tween years, I know that through all of it - I am going to enjoy this process.

Using Clear Scraps' CHA NEW RELEASE acrylic shapes, a decorative frame, two flowers, and a butterfly, I built the framing and embellishments for this layout. Shimmerz pretty much did the rest of the color work for me... gotta love some Coloringz in No Yoking and Mon Shari, plus a bit of Vibez in everyone's favorite Jeni B Bleu.

Prima and Mixed Media

Here it is! My first sneaky peeky at what is to come for Prima! Have you seen all the beautiful products that they are posting on the blog?? If you happen to be at CHA next week, you might just be able to get a glimpse of these products in person. :))))

Well, this mixed media project was so much fun to make, and I created it using Prima's new Alla Prima line, as well as some of their new art tiles. What a gorgeous palette of colors!!

CHA, CHA-ing, Enamelz and more!

Woo-hoo!!!! What a busy week. I have been cranking out the CHA projects, and as of this morning, I believe that I am finally finished. Now, just to package these up and ship 'em to Chicago!

I have a lot to share with you starting a bit later this week, but I promise I will begin catching up, and posting things soon. There is all kinds of yummy things from Clear Scraps and Shimmerz, and TONS of Prima to let you see. So hang with me, and I will be back to regularly posting soon. :))

These colors were really intimidating for me at first, I tend to create in monochromatic color schemes, with maybe a single contrasting color... but this, wow! However, with each piece of paper I added, and each splash of paint, I fell in love with "Her Room."

Here is the palette for this week:

I decided to use white to really set off the colors, splashing my Shimmerz paints a bit here and there!

I used Shimmerz in Sky Blue, Coloringz in My Bleeding Heart, and Vibez in Rolling in the Hay...

Bold and Beautiful (and a RAK!)

Playing around with paints all the time, I almost always use a neutral background to start with. Not today. Today I decided to use a beautiful piece of patterned paper from my stash, and really go bold with the colors. I wanted to challenge myself to make the photo and paintwork a focal point still...

The Color Room #62 - All about the ORANGE

Have you been playing along with us over at The Color Room? This week was an incredible challenge for me. All oranges. Yep, oranges. While I actually do love the color, scrapping with it is terribly intimidating. Here is the palette for this week...

And here is what I came up with. Remember this is "whitewashed" which means absolutely no adding in any other color than what is in the palette.... ack!!!! :))

Phew! What a challenge, but it's one of the reasons that I love The Color Room so much...

it never seems to fail pushing me a little harder. If you haven't come to play with us...

Made using Clear Scraps!

I love the acrylic word expressions, and I wanted to do something a tad different when I got my hands on the large expression... here is what I came up with.

I used tons of alcohol ink, sand, white and black StazOn, Crackle paste, and a Viva pearl pen to coat all the different pieces. First though, I added strips of book pages to the backside of large expression "TOGETHER" ... then I stamped on the front with white opaque StazOn.

The acrylic birdie was coated in alcohol ink as well, then I zip-dried some red feathers on and added some pearl pen to add some pizazz, lol.

A bit much? Perhaps. Now where to hang it......

A Skissedilla Sketch, Shimmerz, and ME!

Posted this past Sunday on their website, you can see what that uber-talented bunch of designers did with it, and I know you will be so inspired. This is the sketch that I created... and I totally created it to showcase Shimmerz paints. I ADORE my paints. Can't live without them. Seriously. SO, in all its craziness, here is the sketch:

This week's palette...

Have I mentioned how much I adore my children? If so, I haven't nearly gotten how much I love them across. I adore them. They are my heart. They can light up a room, simply by walking in... they twinkle, they sparkle, they twirl, and I swear sometimes their pitter pattering feet are what causes my heart to beat every morning.

And sometimes, just sometimes, I can catch an exact moment that my heart beats a little harder when I see them. This layout is about that. A moment I snagged, that made me catch my breath, that shines to the very core of how I feel about them.

I built the sunshine rays with paper, molding paste, and a Viva Pearl Pen. I was so in love with the Scrap That! May kit, which I was so lucky to receive this month as they are sponsoring The Color Room, and these are all it's contents (with the exception of the large alphas!)

I used the Pearl Pen to outline all the letters, and of course used a bit of Shimmerz to highlight in various areas!

OMG! I scrapped a wedding photo!!

Yep... only 11 years after the fact.

But this week's palette at The Color Room, totally inspired me. Not to mention that I was one of the lucky recipients of the Scrap That! May kit, as well as some totally yummy chipboard from Imaginarium Designs! It all just worked perfectly to capture my husband's and my favorite wedding photo.

Here is what I made...

But since it is pretty hard to see the texture, here are the close-ups! I used tons of Shimmerz (of course!) in Toadlee, My Bleeding Heart, and Truffle, to really distress and glam up the background and enhance the framing of the photo! I also used Gold Glimmer to coat the lettering. YUMMY.

Today I decided to show you a little project... a gift tag for a "special" friend. (Can't tell you who it is for, because I haven't dressed up their gift and given it to them yet.) I love to make each gift that I give a bit unique, and I just can't stand the thought of using a generic to: and from: gift tag,

when I can do something like this:

I used Clear Scraps Circles, the 4" size. I first stamped with StazOn Opaque, dripped some alcohol ink in Wild Plum, then added strips of paper from an old book onto the back.

I then punched some holes, used Jet Black StazOn to distress the edges, and added my text to the front.

Then I stamped a butterfly onto the circle, and then onto a sheet of transparency, cutting it out and inking it too. I traced on top with a Viva Pearl Pen, and added some silver beads to its body before bending up the wings and attaching it to my tag.

Finally, I added some more embellies, keys and buttons, and the punched out pieces of paper and acrylic. I dotted with some pearl pens, and then inked along the edges again before the pear dots could dry (so we could get that pooling effect) and tied on my little ribbon. What an easy way to dress up a present?!

A Girlee, Shimmerz inspired, palette!

What is it about girls and their dresses? My daughter, Sarenna, is definitely not a total girlee girl... she loves to get her hands dirty, she isn't afraid to jump into the pile of boys to get her ball back, and outside is where you will normally find her (rain or shine.) But put her in a dress, and she is transformed into all that is feminine. She twirls, she flits about the yard, and when you ask her to hang it up... she pouts.

For this layout, I truly wanted to capture the girlee in my girl, and I chose a perfectly girl-esque Shimmerz palette. Golds, and pinks, in their Shimmery beauty did exactly what I hoped.

I first laid down a few scraps of paper, and then smeared crackle paste on the background for dimension. I then flicked Shimmerz Vibez in Pop Art Pink around, and then spritzed Shimmeringz in Goldie Lox all over the paste for an all over shimmer.

Then I flicked a bit more Pop Art Pink and Goldie Lox on top of my letters, and after that dried, I painted a bit of Blingz in Gold Glimmer in random spots to highlight/distress/glam up my title.

then I dripped some more Blingz in Gold Gimmer around the cluster that I created,

as well as painted along some of my watch parts and gears.

But my favorite use of Shimmerz on this layout? The photo effects. I dipped my paintbrush into Shimmerz Spritz in Caribbean Sunset and then colored in parts of her dress. The pale pink color immediately reacted with the printed black and white image, and turned each blossom in her dress a beautiful peachy and green hue, which I think really made the layout come alive.

Excuses, The Color Room, and Clear Scraps!

I know that I have been a real blog slacker recently... but it is for good reason. For spring break I took all three kiddos on a road trip, stopping off in Michigan and Illinois before we came back to Missouri. We added a new member to the Kelley family, and I became an aunt AGAIN last month - meaning, of course (!) that we all have been traveling to see her and other family for the past month or so. In the midst of all of that, I also had the chance to attend CKC, doing make n'takes for CLEAR SCRAPS, and have been working my toosh off with Alyssa McGrew (and many others) to ensure an amazing launch of her new online crafting go-to place, Miss Art's Papercrafting School (OPEN TODAY!)
What a blast. So while I am behind on posting, I have plenty to get down on paper for the next couple months!

Here is the sweet Kenzie Mae... and yes, Aunt Heidi tortured her (doesn't she look it?) with an impromptu photo shoot. My cousin through marriage, Alisha Kapp, made this adorable tutu, and Emily (Kenzie's mama, and my good friend) and I had fun building a makeshift studio in Kenzie's Grandma's kitchen. Far from professionals, you should have seen us, lol!

Working with acrylic has been SO MUCH fun... this was created using the inside rectangle to one of the Decorative Frames, and a 12x12 sheet of extruded acylic. PERFECT for using Shimmerz paints on, as well as a Viva Pearl Pen! I only wish that I could capture this layout better without the easel. : )

My Boy & Clear Scraps

Today on the Clear Scraps Blog...

It has been so much fun playing with Clear Scraps acrylic... it is totally working with the new "boy" style I am trying to settle into after years of only creating girly layouts! I used Clear Scraps decorative frames to make the tabs on either side of my photos, and I stamped on a piece of extruded acrylic, creating the gears. All of this before adding torn scraps of paper, gesso, Shimmerz Coloringz, and of course some Shimmerz paint.

Have you had the pleasure of looking at the amazing works of Bethany Kartchner? Oh my, this uber-talented, sweet as can be, beautiful souled woman is something to follow. I have had the pleasure of getting to know her a bit better over this past year, and I gotta tell you - she is a constant source of inspiration.

Welcome to the Color Room’s First annual Blog HOP!

You have just come from Emma Trout’s blog, and as always she has blown my mind with
her layout this week!!! The eye candy that she always gives us is so amazing.

Here is what I created from the ‘whitewashed’ His Room Palette:

Some things you may not know about me......

1. I am from.........Missouri, United States and I am currently Designing for.......The Color Room, Shimmerz, and Clear Scraps. I am also an Educator for Shimmerz Paints

2. I Live with.........my hubby, Patrick and our three children, 2 girls and 1 boy. Ahna is 9, Sarenna is 7, and Jax is 15 months. Here are all my cuties... LOVE this picture, I took it this past November. :)

3. On my desk right now you will find.......Shimmerz paints, two buckets of paintbrushes, and my Honey Bee scissors.

4. My favorite colors to work with at the moment are........just about everything. I love mixing hues because it makes each work something unique!

5. What kind of themes do you often scrap? The everyday. I want to remember these kids exactly as they are - not just on special holidays.

6. Where do you scrap? In my studio...I love it!

7. What is your scrapping process? I start totally clean (like above) - nothing on my desk, just maybe the photo. Then I really try to think about how the photo makes or made me feel when I took it - and then I don't know... it just all begins to pour onto the page!

8. My favorite food is........ don't laugh... vegetables. Sauteed, raw, in a salad, on a sandwich. I LOVE vegetables!!

9. My top 3 favorite tools are....... Honey Bee scissors, Paintbrushes, and my fingers!

10. I get my inspiration from..... everywhere. Markets, signs, my kids, books, music. There is so much beauty all around us!

11. Describe a Technique you used on your project this week...... I brushed molding paste all

over corrugated cardboard, and stamped it upon my layout and photo before painting, to add texture!

5 different ways...

I'm going to use Shimmerz today!

(all in about 15 minutes)

1. Freshening up some boring old barrettes for my daughter.
- Just dip into a paint pot, and cover up the chipping color.
- Seal it with modpodge.

2. Distressing (glamming?!) up a set of frames.
- Prime with gesso, spritz with your favorite color,
and then paint randomly with others!

3. Making a letter's envelope, a bit more happy for it's recipient.

- Spritz a bit of Vibez or Coloringz on an envelope before you put your letter in.
- Let it dry, and voila! A fun bit of mail.

4. Who says a rock garden can't shimmer?

- spritz, paint, shimmer!

And last, but certainly not least...

5. My child asked for a rainbow... on her hands. And I aim to please...

- just pick a paint pot, and paint those nails! It will wash off easy, but is fun for a little while!

Gettin' Happy with Hot Air Balloons!

Yep. Those of you who know me, know that I LOVE hot air balloons. They are so happy, and free. Today, posted on the Shimmerz blog, is this layout...

I got a little crazy with the paints, but I am so happy with that. I love the personality a page can take on when using Shimmerz paints! Here are the colors that I used: Coloringz in No Yoking, Mandarin Mai Tai, Anchors Away, and My Bleeding Heart, and Vibez in Before Dawn for the background. And Shimmerz in Fire Engine Red, Sunny Side Up, and Magenta to drip and frame the center photo.

Have fun with your paints, go wild and a bit happy! And for goodness sake, go BUY SOME SHIMMERZ!

It's often hard to remember that I need to get out from behind the camera, and in front of it, for my kids sake. As much as I don't like my own photo taken, it is important to get me into the memory books, and into the art journals so that I am documenting my journey for them as well.

This picture was taken by my 7 year old, Sarenna. Right before she stole the camera off my desk (gaspppp.... don't drop the digi rebel!), she said "Freeze it Mommy. Don't you move a muscle. I need this picture of you." (ROFL, okay, she sounds A LOT LIKE ME.) And then she said, "And you had better scrap it, young lady."

I obeyed.

Not much to say about what was going on.

I was just a sitting there.

Watching my beautiful babies do what they do.

It's how I pass the time.

I could sit there for hours watching them.

I often do.

This time...

I just got caught on camera.

I used Shimmerz in Sugar Plum, Blingz in Hottie Pink, Pearlz in Ballet Slipper and Vibez in Before Dawn... and I gave the page a bit of love with my sewing machine. :) Gotta love some random stitches.

I adore being a designer for The Color Room... the inspiration never wanes and this week is no exception. The palette is, simply put, delicious. It is what I based my layout off of, and here is the gorgeous combination:

Isn't it divine? It spoke to me this week... I know, silly, right? But it was soft, comforting, but bold with that red. It was exactly the mood that I wanted to set when I created this layout for my daughter Ahna... there are so many things that I want to tell her as she is growing up... and it all needs to get down on paper, lest I forget. :) I wanted the layout to be comfy, but bold enough to get her attention. I know this all may sound silly... but there is a method to my creating madness. There is a mood for every project, and emotion that I want to come out... and this time, I think I did, or at least I hope I got it right. :)

The Days are Flying By...

Can you believe it is already almost March? I don't know where the time is going, but there is an apology long overdue... to my very own Mama. Years ago (and no, I won't tell you how many.) she told me that the older you got, the faster it went. Well, Mama. I didn't believe you... and I was so wrong not to.

It seems like my baby boy Jax, this little (okay not so little at 9lb, 9oz.), infant was just born.

But no, he is looking a bit more little man-ish, like this...

And now he is cruising, moving along walls and furniture, and holding our hands to walk. He may still be wobbly, but this I know for sure...

It Won't Be Long Now.

This layout was incredibly simple to make, and I still feel like I am trying to figure out how to scrap my son (so used to scrapping my daughters with lots of fussy cutting florals!) I love the grungy/circles combo for the little guy, and of course I have to use paint, so I used a lot Shimmerz Coloringzs in Anchors Away and Mama Sings the Blues, and Shimmerz Spritz in Rock-a-Fella Blue.

And I thought my life had already changed.

Look out, Mama.

In Quiet Places...

I absolutely adore finding my children in quiet moments. And no, its not just because they are quiet, but more because of my fascination with finding them in deep thought. This layout is all about my discovering Sarenna in one of those moments... and their her discovering me finding her. :)

I used Shimmerz Spritz to create the background, in Olive Branch, Treasured Hymn, and Licorice. I also used a bit of Vibez, in Sea Monkey. The palette this week at The Color Room is bright, and boyishly delicious! Here is what I created...

(it helps to have a fantastically cute subject!)

From this palette...

and close-ups... I had a lot of fun with the sketch this time. I did move it all to the center, but I was totally in love with the stars and the skinny appearance! I also added a bit of black for a little more grunge... but this background paper by Nathalie Kalbach made the piece artistic all by itself! (Again, thank you Nat!)

And where would a layout of mine be without some Shimmerz Paints? I loved using Under the Sea Blingz to amp up the texture in this layout.

Locks of Lovey...

It's all about a couple of beautiful girls I know :) that begged and pleaded with their mother :)

Cute Little Buggers...

Palette #45 this week at The Color Room is divine! I created this layout...

"Cute Little Buggers"

using tons of Shimmerz!

The colors I used to create the background are Spritz in Plum Pudding and

Olive Branch, Vibez in Jeni B Blue and Hermit the Frog, and Coloringzs in Mon-Shari. I painted then Prima alpha letters with Shimmerz in Sugar Plum... LOVE this color.

I never used to consider myself a purple kind of person, until I got my hands on these paints!

A couple months ago I was asked by Faber-Castell to create a few projects for their Design Memory Craft CHA booth, catalog and blog, and I shared one of those projects a couple weeks back. Well, this is my second project...

Using Design Memory Craft Gelato sticks and Aquarelle pencils brought this wall hanging to life. What fun I had blending and smooshing the colors all together and then topping with glitter and gloss.

Whitewashed, in The Color Room!

Yet another challenge... normally when the palette is released over at The Color Room, we as designers and scrappers are allowed to mix in some white, black, and kraft cardstock. This week, however, the lovely powers at be decided NO! Not allowed, lol!! A new challenge that will be showing up from time to time "Whitewashed" means that you are only allowed to use white with the colors within the palette....

aren't these greens luscious? I am definitely a green kind of girl. And I LOVE monochromatic color schemes! For my layout I used Shimmerz Spritz in Olive Branch, Shimmerz Colorings in Ivy League, and Shimmers Pearls in Toad-Lee.

Shimmerz, The Color Room, and a Style Swap!

What a week this is! Shimmerz and The Color Room are still teaming up this month, but over at The Color Room a little challenge was issued to us designers... we were given another designer that we had to swap styles with! WAO! I had the awesome honor of trying to create in Leeann Pierce's style.... you can find her work HERE. And here is what I did... (I hope you like it Leeann!)

Shimmerz is offering two new products, in a juicy array of colors!

Coloringz

 Coloringz are super opaque, highly saturated colors without shimmer. Crazy, beautiful,

intense,  color! Still water-based and non-toxic, they will clean up with soap and water just

 like all the other Shimmerz products! I showed you the sneak peek of these colors the other

 day, but for your drooling pleasure, here they are again...

Shimmeringz

Shimmeringz are super shimmery sprays with only shimmer, no color. (There are 5 of them!)

Heavy Metal - a combo of 3 different metallics 
Goldie Lox - gold shimmer 
Concrete -  silver shimmer 
Baby's Breath - white shimmer 
Bronze Bomshell - bronze shimmer

I personally cannot wait to get my hands on these new products!

It's Amazing What a New Color Can Do...

Okay crafters...what do Mama Sings The Blues, My Bleeding Heart,

and Lime In Da Coconut have in common?

THEY ARE JUST A FEW OF THE NEW PRODUCT RELEASES FOR SHIMMERZ that are ready for purchase this week! On January 20th these amazing colors will be up for grabs!

Mama Sings The Blues – a bright turquoise color
Mandrin My Tie – an orange / yellow color
My Bleeding Heart – Deep, bright red
Anchors Away – Deep navy blue
Valentino – is similar to the Pantone color of the year for 2011
Ivy League – an olive green
Lime In Da Coconut – a bright lime green
Mon-Shari – a vibrant blue / purple
No Yolking – a super bright yellow
Pink Stiletto – a hot, hot pink
Tropical Tan Line – a vintage tan

And this beauty of a flower was once white...

But after adding some Heavy Metal atop some Pink Stiletto, it was completely transformed! Isn't it dreamy?!

My two loves have teamed up this month, isn't that fun? All month long, Shimmerz will be sponsoring The Color Room...

So while I am carting my family across country, here is my first layout for both of them this month!

and here is the Color Palette... isn't it gorgeous?

Of course, I used the coordinating Shimmerz, and also added Treasured Hymn.
